Botanical Bundle Dyeing With Plants, Flowers & Roots with Amy DuFault at The Felted Bee Studio

Interested in seeing how plants, flowers and roots can make beautiful botanical marks on silk? Then come join natural dyer and local fiber guru Amy DuFault for some exploration! Each participant will get 2 silk scarves and all the color choices one could wish for.

We’ll start with a quick presentation of bundle dyeing and flower printing for some design inspiration then jump into creating our own fabulous works of art. The process of bundle dyeing is simply placing flowers, leaves, roots and more on silk and steaming the color in. Options include choosing a color palette, covering the entire silk scarf with flowers, being a minimalist or even embracing a rainbow of color. Your choice, your creation.

All tools and materials will be included, but feel free to bring some of your plants from your garden such as: goldenrod, dried flowers from the summer, leaves.

No experience required, ability to have fun is!

Teacher Bio:

Amy DuFault is the Founder of the Southeastern New England Fibershed, an organization that connects farmer to processor and designer to production, connecting the dots of the supply chain to recreate and reinvigorate, a once-thriving New England textile industry.

She is also a consultant on regenerative textile systems for farmers, designers, scientists, artists, filmmakers and more. She does all this while also being a passionate advocate for Cape Cod’s water as the communications lead for MASSTC, a space for technologists to do cutting edge work in wastewater.

When: Saturday, October 5th from 10am to 1pm

Where: The Felted Bee Studio; 83 E. Water Street, Rockland, MA.   

 Located on the 4th Floor of the Sandpaper Factory. Please make sure when you sign up to add your email so that we can email important information the day before. There is access to a freight elevator to those who require a bit of a lift. We will be happy to help everyone get up here!
